Pengaruh Perbedaan Konsentrasi Ekstrak Daun Sirsak (Annona muricata L.) terhadap Kekerasan Permukaan Resin Akrilik Heat-Cured
Abstract
Introduction: Heat-cured acrylic resin has been widely utilized as a base material for denture fabrication. One of the indicators for assessing the durability of heat-cured acrylic resin is surface hardness testing. Maintaining the cleanliness of denture bases is an essential practice that must be consistently upheld. Denture cleaning is commonly performed by immersion in cleaning solutions. The utilization of herbal plants is required as an alternative method for cleaning denture bases. Soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) has been reported to possess antibacterial properties and is potentially applicable as an alternative cleaning agent.
Objective: conducted to determine the effect of various concentrations of soursop leaf extract on the surface hardness of heat-cured acrylic resin after immersion.
Method: A post-test only with control group design was employed. A total of 28 heat-cured acrylic resin plates with a diameter of 30 mm and a thickness of 5 mm were prepared. The samples were divided into four groups: treatment with 60% soursop leaf extract, 80% soursop leaf extract, a negative control group (distilled water), and a positive control group (alkaline peroxide). Surface hardness was measured using a Vickers Hardness Tester.
Results: A significant difference was found among the treatment groups immersed in 60% and 80% soursop leaf extract, as indicated by the One-Way ANOVA analysis (P<0.05). A higher average surface hardness was observed in the group immersed in 60% soursop leaf extract compared to the group immersed in 80% soursop leaf extract.
Conclusion: The concentration of soursop leaf extract that most closely approached the standard hardness value of 20 VHN and had the least impact on reducing the surface hardness was the 60% concentration, with a measured surface hardness of 19.39 VHN.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain post-test only with control group. Sampel berupa plat resin akrilik heat-cured sebanyak 28 buah dengan diameter 30 mm dan tebal 5 mm. Sampel terbagi menjadi empat kelompok yakni kelompok ekstrak daun sirsak konsentrasi 60%, kelompok ekstrak daun sirsak konsentrasi 80%, kelompok kontrol negatif (akuades) dan kontrol positif (alkalin peroksida).
