Pengaruh pH Larutan Asam Terhadap Daya Tarik Magnetic Attachment 700 GF
Abstract
Background: Dental magnetic attachment is a prosthodontic retention system that is increasingly used due to its good retention and stability. Theoretically, the attractive force of permanent magnets has a constant retention force, and the magnitude of the force will not decrease over time. However, based on research, the magnetic force can decrease if in extreme conditions including high temperatures, external environments, or changes in the chemical composition of the magnet due to corrosion and physical damage to the magnet, the magnetic protective casing also still has a risk of corrosion or damage. Based on research, it states that exposure to acidic solutions can cause corrosion and reduce the magnetic attraction of old products. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of the pH of the acidic solution on the attraction of the latest type of dental magnetic attachment, namely MagTeeth 700 GF.
Method: The study used a pre-posttest design. Three magnetic attachment samples (MT 700) were immersed in a carbonated drink with a pH of 2.77 for 14 days. The attraction measurements were carried out before and after immersion using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) at a speed of 50 mm/minute. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and paired t-test.
Results: The average tensile strength before immersion was 6.62 N, and after immersion decreased to 4.81 N. The results of the paired t-test showed a significant difference between the tensile strength before and after immersion (p = 0.030).
Conclusion: The decreased of tensile strenght may be caused by corrosion process due to the acid solution.
Latar Belakang : Dental magnetic attachment merupakan sistem retensi prostodontik yang semakin banyak digunakan karena retensi dan stabilitasnya yang baik. Secara teoritis, gaya tarik menarik magnet permanen mempunyai gaya retensi yang konstan, dan besarnya gaya tidak akan berkurang seiring waktu. Namun berdasarkan penelitian, gaya magnet dapat berkurang jika dalam kondisi ekstrim termasuk suhu tinggi, lingkungan eksternal, atau perubahan komposisi kimia magnet akibat korosi dan kerusakan fisik magnetnya, casing pelindung magnet juga masih ada risiko korosi atau kerusakan. Berdasarkan penelitian menyatakan bahwa paparan larutan asam dapat menyebabkan korosi dan menurunkan daya tarik magnet pada produk yang lama. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pH larutan asam terhadap daya tarik dental magnetic attachment tipe terbaru yaitu MagTeeth 700 GF.
Metode : Penelitian dengan desain pre-posttest. Tiga sampel magnetic attachment (MT 700) direndam dalam minuman berkarbonasi dengan pH 2,77 selama 14 hari. Pengukuran daya tarik dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah perendaman menggunakan Universal Testing Machine (UTM) dengan kecepatan 50 mm/menit. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan paired t-test.
Hasil : Rata-rata daya tarik sebelum perendaman adalah 6,62 N, dan setelah perendaman menurun menjadi 4,81 N. Hasil paired t-test menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara daya tarik sebelum dan sesudah perendaman (p = 0,030).
Kesimpulan : Penurunan daya tarik dapat disebabkan oleh korosi akibat perendaman dalam larutan dengan pH asam.
